(Baby Leia) Update on feeding solids!

Baby cereal:

Leia absolutely detests Cerealac's white rice cereal! She started fussing when we tried to feed her. But she loves Healthy times barley cereal! She can now take 5 teaspoons mixed with milk for her brekkie.

I'm gonna let her try Healthy Times brown rice cereal soon! Brown rice is supposed to be really nutritious so let's hope she likes it!

Vegetables:

We started giving Leia pumpkin and she loves it so much! Somehow puréed pumpkin seems to be easier to eat compared to puréed Japanese sweet potato. I think it's the texture. The latter seems thicker and less smooth.

Anyways, I bought the normal sweet potato and it seems better than the Japanese type! Sweeter and smoother when puréed. We mixed this sweet potato with pumpkin and Leia likes it!

I know that peas are supposed to be nutritious and a good green to introduce so I bought some snow peas for her to try. We just puréed it with sweet potato so hopefully she likes it!

Starting baby solids is a really fun thing to do! I love experimenting! =D

Baby Leia's milestones: Happy 7 months!

Leia just turned 7 months! She no longer seems like a lil baby who's absolutely clueless hehe. Our little one is growing up!

We recently shaved her hair due to immense pressure from our parents! She had little hair although some of it grew really long! Hopefully shaving her head will encourage more hair to grow. Now she looks like a little monk and G keeps calling her 'ke ling' from Dragonball -.-

Here are her recent milestones:

1. She knows how to sit on her own now! She's still a lil unstable when she sits but she can kinda balance and doesn't topple sideways much. I love to watch her sit cause she looks so cute and resembles a lil grown up! When sitting, she reaches for toys (but doesn't play with them for long) and looks at her books.

2. And yes! She has learned to flip or turn the pages of her books. I was going goo goo ga ga when I saw her flip a page for the first time. It was a big moment for me lol.

3. Leia can't crawl yet but she can move 360 degrees on her tummy. Basically he uses her arms to turn her body around... But she hasn't learned how to nov forward or backward. We suspect she's leaning how to crawl though! She keeps doing rapid breaststroke motions when she's on the bed, as though she's swimming! Lol.

4. Our cutie just learned how to move backwards! She will lift her lil bum up and slide back. She keeps doing it in her cot until her legs actually extend beyond the cot rails! Lol.

(Baby Leia) First solid foods!

Now that Leia is more than 6 months old, I've been researching on what to feed her. Sources tell me that milk is no longer sufficient and she needs to take solids to get iron and other nutrients! Starting solids is also important as it teaches baby how to munch and swallow food so that she knows how to eat when she grows up.

Baby cereal:

So far, I've discovered that it's good to start Leia with single grain cereal like rice cereal since it contains iron and is also easy to digest. Therefore, we've been giving her Nestle's rice cereal once every morning, mixed with friso stage 2 formula milk. Leia really liked it at first but last week, she started rejecting it and fussed when we fed her. So I decided to try Healthy times barley cereal to see if she likes it better. Anyways, unlike rice cereal, barley cereal doesn't cause constipation so that's good!

Vegetables:

Sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, peas and avocados are good for little ones. Butternut squash is supposed to be good too but I really have no idea where to get it in Singapore!

We've started her with sweet potatoes only and she's okay with it. Sometimes she seems to really like it and other times, no. So we're a little confused lol. We're still giving it to her anyway!

We bought Philips steamer and blender to prepare her purée sweet potato. So far, I'm really loving it! It's really really convenient. I just bought avocados so that we can let her try. I'm excited cause I think avocados are super yummy! And they're filled with good fat hehe. Hope she likes it!

(Baby Leia) Rollin, rollin, rolling.

So it appears Leia can roll from tummy to back now. How do I know? Well, last night, before she slept, she did it once and decided to practise! So she rolled from one side of the cot to the other, and then back. It was hilarious!

I was trying not to laugh in case she realizes I'm awake and demands to be carried.

I'm hoping she doesn't forget her new found skill!

(Update) G just told me that in the afternoon, Leia rolled over from one end of her playmat to the other, knocking right into her books and toys! Such a cute, silly billy.
