(Me time) Orange vs pink lippies!

I loooove lipsticks. I love collecting them. I love wearing them but I always forget to hehe.

And I particularly love coral and orange lippies! I'm just drawn to these 2 colours. They're just so happy and bold.

Well the thing is, during my make up class, I found out that warm colours don't really suit me. That includes orange and coral! *heart breaks*

I decided to do another test today to confirm this. You can tell I'm kinda in denial because I have so many warm or orange base products. Was secretly hoping that my instructor was wrong lol.

According to my make up instructor, a good way of testing is to separately try on a pink and orange based lipstick and see which suits you better. Sooooo I tried on these three colours:

Bourjois colour boost - Fuchsia Libre

Laneige hydrating lipstick - YR27

Nyx Matt lipstick - Audrey

I took photos to get a better sense of how I like. Looking at the mirror alone can be deceiving!

Anyways, the 1st and 3rd lipsticks are pink based lippes which I haven't been using because I always thought they were too pink for me. I thought coral and orange were better for me! That's kinda why I have like 4-5 orangey lip products -.-

But as you can see, I obviously look better wearing pink! The orange lipstick somehow makes me look duller even though it's such a bright pop of colour. I look more radiant wearing pink. The 3rd colour looks nice even though it seems too pink when I look at the lipstick or at the mirror. See, it's always better to take a photo to see how a product really looks on you.

I'm gonna start using these pink lippies again! Going to also test out my other lipsticks using this method so that I know what's suitable for me. I do have many many lipsticks heee.

(Me time) Learning new things!

About 2 weeks ago, I was feeling rather depressed. Suddenly I felt like I didn't have any passion or hobby that I was pursuing avidly and consistently. I wasn't learning anything new during my own personal time. I would just basically follow makeup and lifestyle vloggers on YouTube. If not, I'd be watching anime or movies online. It dawned on me that whilst I was watching vloggers live their life, I wasn't really living mine. Or at least documenting life like they do!

So I decided that I'd be more proactive.

Last Sunday, I went for a basic make up class with Sophie to learn the proper way to apply make up. Sure, I watch a lot of make up tutorials but none are as effective as having someone there to demonstrate and correct your techniques. It was a good class! I learnt soooo many things, for eg. that cool colours may actually suit me more than warm. Yes, apparently orange doesn't really complement me -.- More blues and purples are better.

I tried so many good products that I wanna buy! Of course, I learnt the better techniques of make up application too. How to apply foundation properly... Concealer, highlighter, loose powder, eye shadow, eyebrows, blush and lipstick.

Well apart from make up, I've been trying to learn basic video editing so that I can edit our vlogs or snippets of our lives =D just simple trimming of videos and combing for a start!

Hope I keep going!

Baby Leia's milestones: Happy 9 months my bub!

My lil sweetheart just turned 9 months. When I look at her, I always feel amazed about how she has grown from a lil baby to the pseudo toddler that she is today. Life is truly wonderful.

And I've grown as a mummy as well. I've learnt how to better care for my little one. I've learnt patience and parental love. I've learnt how to let certain things go because they really don't matter anymore. I've learnt not to care when others pass judgement. I guess when you become a parent, you really start to realize what really matters is your family and friends, on a deeper level. And that time is really precious. You discover that there's really no time spending it on things that don't value add to your life.

Here are my lil one's recent milestones:

1. Yes, she has learnt to crawl better now! And she does it really quickly! This means we have to keep a closer watch on her all the time because she's always trying to crawl everywhere. She loves exploring beyond her Playmat too! I always feel uber paranoid when she does that since she may hit her head against the homogenous tiles. That's gonna w veeeerrry painful. Leia loves to get back into sitting position and alwats straightens her legs in delight hehe.

2. Leia can pull herself up to standing position, holding onto something. It's amazing how fast she learns. She does this a lot into her cot where she can stand by supporting the cot railings. That's why we pull the sliding side rail to the maximum height now. Just in case she falls over -.-

3. Yup, as mentioned in my previous post, her two lil bottom teeth have cut through. Makes her look so adorable. I'm kinda glad they came together since teething is always a difficult time for babies. Yay, my baby's gonna be able to chew soon! Heee.

Baby Leia's milestones: Two front teeth =D

This week, I discovered that Leia's bottom 2 teeth had cut through her gums! Her pearly whites have finally revealed themselves! I was so excited lol.

According to online research, babies usually get their first teeth at about 7 months or even earlier. So I've been kinda waiting for Leia's teeth to come out. So happy that she finally got them!

(Couple time) Food hacks fun!

G and I did something random yesterday! And it was fun =D

Many peeps have been posting food hacks on Facebook lately. And these food hacks actually look really tasty and of course, easy to do! They can be whipped up with readily available ingredients.

We decided to prepare one last night! Here's the one we picked:

Toasted bread with cheese, dipped in egg! It's kinda like French toast really. YUMMERS!

We had to improvise because we didn't have white bread and normal cheese. Had to use whole meal bread and laughing cow cheese! (which is better btw since it's more atas haha)

Check out the final outcome! It was really delish.

Reminds you of roti john doesn't it? Hehe. Anyways we were thinking of adding meat fillings next time round. It will be gooooooood.

Baby Leia's milestones: Crawl and sit!

Yes, it's official. Our lil girl knows how to crawl now! She managed to hit this milestone before reaching 9 months. Phew!

Well, her crawling isn't exactly the type you'd imagine. She kinda moves like a worm or caterpillar lol. She has to scrunch up and proper forward. Sometimes she does downward dog along the way and I have this feeling she thinks this helps her move hehehe.

And she can get to the sitting position from all fours now! She loves doing this on the sofa. It's like her practice or training ground.

It's amazing how fast babies develop. 2 months ago, she just learnt how to flip properly. Now she's crawling!

Oh yes! She also stood up holding into the edge of the sofa without me supporting her! It lasted for like 1 minute but still =p

Baby Leia's milestones: Mimicking sounds!

Leia has been vocalizing and 'singing' a lot lately.

This morning she was playing with her number, animal flash cards. I picked up the no. 5 flash card which showed 5 monkeys and made some monkey sounds. And Leia actually imitated the 'ah ah ah' sound! She was so so so cute!

Actually, she also called out to me when she woke up this morning. Hehe.

So looking forward to the day when she says her first word!

(Couple time) Happy 7th anniversary!

7 years ago, G and I got together and it's the best thing that ever happened to me. I sure do hope it's the same for him! Hehe.

I'm just really happy that we're still crazy together. Marriage and having a baby have certainly been challenging at times and definitely not perfect. But we grow together. We quarrel and forgive each other. We're on the same journey together.

This year, my dear G planned a surprise for me and booked a Volkswagen kombi to pick us up for a nice meal at the kombi restaurant! It was nice taking a romantic ride together, not knowing where we were heading originally. It was almost exhilarating! =D

We had a good meal and great conversation. Love love love my G!

(Feel bad just getting a wallet for him)

(Baby Leia) Porridge and more!

Leia is 8 months now and it's a good time to start her on porridge! =D Getting her ready to eat more solid food!

We've tried the following recipes so far:
- Porridge with pork, sweet potato and broccoli
- Porridge with pork, sweet corn and carrots

When we tried the first recipe, Leia actually threw up! We're not sure if it's because of the broccoli or that we added milk. We tried feeding her again and she was fine so we might give it one more try another time.

She looooved the second recipe! Must be the sweet corn. Personally, I love the combination as well!

So fun feeding her porridge! Hehe. Now my helper and I want to try out different combinations so that she gets to eat a variety of nutritious foods!

Anyway, here's a list of other foods that we have tried recently:
- Baby peas
- Threadfin fish ('gor he')
- Salmon

(Family time) First time at Punggol Settlement!

We just visited Punggol settlement last Saturday and we loved the place!

Can't believe we have such an amazing hangout spot in Punggol. Punggol settlement is situated at Punggol point and it hosts a stretch of restaurants and cafes along the waterfront. The famous House of seafood is located there.

We dined at a Western restaurant on the 2nd level and had a stunning view of the sea. Loved loved loved the experience of pseudo seaside dining! Hehe.

A pity that we didn't get to walk along the waterfront though. We'll definitely be back for this!

It was our first time bringing leia to such a place and she was so happy!
