(Family time) Happy 31st Birthday to me!

G booked a birthday staycation for us at Le Meridien @ Sentosa (the former Movenpick hotel). The hotel has a great location, being right next to Imbiah train station. We could get easy access to RWS (walkable) and also to the beach station!

Their rooms are quite nice and comfy and I love that they have a bathtub for leia to have her favourite water play in. Service wise, we heard that they were better when they were Movenpick.

(At the lobby with Leia)

(Our lovely King sized bed! No complaints here)

We checked in about 3 plus and basically just relaxed in our room and checked out the hotel's pool. We wanted to go swimming but it began to rain! =( soooo we had fun in our bathtub instead hehe.

Then it was off for dinner at RWS's Insadong town! But before that... Leia had to grab some candy first. Her favourite store: Candylicious!

(Leia super happy pushing her lil cart around. She'd grab anything daddy touches and puts it in there)

(Our dinner at Insadong! We ordered cold spicy noodle, fried rice, pork kimchi soup and fishcake. Food was pretty alright)

We ended our night picking up a slice of red velvet cake from Cedele and celebrating my birthday in the room. The hotel was really sweet to give us a complimentary chocolate birthday cake too. Honestly, it was nicer than the red velvet! The latter was waaaay too salty and disappointing.

We started the 2nd day with an amazing buffet breakfast! Man, I love buffet breakfasts. The spread was really good. I loved their scrambled eggs and ee fu noodles! Lol. Leia had her share of eggs, yogurt and fruits!

After breakfast, we made our way to Palawan beach despite the gloomy, drizzly weather! We were bent on taking on the Port of Lost Wonder. Took the train to Beach station and walked a short distance before reaching our destination. Ohhh and we were lucky to chance upon My little Pony's colourful display!

(Dada and Leia looking like they're part of a storybook lol)

It was raining but we still had our waterplay! Leia was a lil afraid of the pirate pictures so she only wanted to stay out of the ship area. But she still managed to take the slide with G a couple of times before she refused, saying that she didn't like the water splashing into her face -.-

We had some Little pony cam whoring after our waterplay! I insisted Leia to take photos with me after I bought her a lol gift hehehe. The displays were just too cute and pretty!

The place was almost magical to me ok!

Anyways, G and Leia had some fun running in the fieeeeeld before we bought Mcdonalds back to our room and rested.

(Time with friends) My birthday surprise!

Crystal had her housewarming gathering on 5th June and the girls were so sweet to celebrate my birthday that day!

Before that, Leia and I had a lil splash and play at her condo's swimming pool. We had so much fun!

(Little Leia) Kindergarden's 1st Parent Teacher Meeting

I just had my first ever Parent Teacher Meeting 2 days ago at Dayspring Kindergarden! It went well. Leia and my mum came along and we had a chat with Leia's teachers.

I was really glad to hear positive feedback about Leia. She was actually being very shy in class and refused to go near her teachers! I asked if she was always like that and they reassured me that she wasn't and it could be cause I was present that day.

Mrs Sharma said that Leia listens to instructions and loves music and dance. She's awfully good at singing her favourite song, Daddy finger hehe. She likes to sit together with Mrs Sharma in front of the class, together with her friend 'kor kor'. And she looooves water play so so so much. Could be the reason why she falls sick when she returns from school.

Leia can improve on her colouring skills by learning to better hold the crayon and colour 'below the line'. That's gonna be her homework for the hols! Hehe. Other than that, she seems perfectly fine =D

The teachers returned all the artwork that they've been doing in school. In a way, whilst I'm skeptical about sending her to school cause she keeps falling sick, I'm also glad that she's learning in school. I don't think she will be learning as much at home. The school has some structured and thematic learning afterall.

Pictures of the week!

These moments are so precious.

Leia going for a walk and admiring some wild flowers along the way.

Leia loves watching this video on YouTube from Pom Pom. It's basically about a video making ice Popsicles using strawberry and banana milk, with some food colouring. I don't know why she loves it lol. Anyway I surprised her by making a strawberry milk Popsicle for her! She was so happy she kept saying 'thank you mama, I'm so happy'. It made me sooooo happy too. My little one is so grateful for such little things.

Daddy teaching Leia how to climb!

G looking hilarious on the see saw.

(Family recipes) Homecooked Soups!

I'm a huge fan of homecooked, asian soups. Since our previous helper Jo went back, I've transitioned Leia to eating rice instead of mushy food. And she looooves her rice with her soup. She's always asking for more. The funny thing is, she only likes asian soup. If you give her western mushroom or pumpkin soup, she just doesn't take it! She's a true blue (or yellow? Lol) Chinese girl.

We've been trying so many soup recipes. Most of them are inspired by my mum or mil. Thought I do a post on them so that I will always remember their recipes!

(Family time) Our Sentosa staycation and Babymoon!

We had a lil getaway at Sentosa in March at our favourite Amara Sanctuary resort =D

This time round, we stayed at their lovely deluxe room. Their service was excellent! They set up a baby cot for us without us even asking. The room was sooo comfy and I loveeeed their huge toilet. Their bathtub was awesome! Leia had so muh fun splashing around with her toys.

My mum, sis and nephews + niece checked in with me first! We had so much fun taking wefies on the awesome huge bed.

Then Gerald joined us and we went swimming! We went to the family and kids pool instead of the infinity pool. The latter was more suitable for couples and individuals who want some romantic and me time. We didn't want to disturb them!

The 2nd day, we had our morning buffet breakfast at Shutters restaurant. Leia loved the food there, especially the wanton noodles soup, yogurt and fresh fruits! She had a good time feeding herself =D

Next up was beach time! We were blessed with great weather so we took a bus to Silso beach area. One of the cafés had a sheltered sand area where we could build sandcastles without getting burnt. Yay! Leia overcame her fear of sand in no time!

We had our lunch at Mcdonalds and Leia had her first happy meal. She definitely loved her nuggets and Ribena hehe.

We took a rest back at our hotel before venturing out to the Merlion area. There was a kids carnival going on and kids were selling new and pre loved goodies!

Our friend came over to visit and we wrapped our night with a good dinner at Din Tai Fung!

(Life's trials) A series of unfortunate events

Hi =D
It's been a loooong time.

During the period of mid March to mid April, a series of unfortunate events happened to our family. It was a very tough and challenging period and I wish to document it so that I can look back and recall the lessons we learnt. I'm so glad that we got over the period with God's grace and the immense support of our family and friends.

Here's a rough timeline of what happened:

15 March - Jo, our helper, did not come back from her home leave. We actually went to the airport to pick her up and to my immense dismay and disappointment, we did not see her. There were no calls or even messages from her. It was terrible. I felt so betrayed and sad because she promised she would come back. The least she could do was let us know by dropping a message. But nope, no sound, no word from her. Our helper was gone just like that.

For the next 2 days, I was emotionally very disturbed. I would imagine her being in our home, playing with Leia. Going about her housework. I was so used to her being in our home, being a part of our family. At about 2am at night, I would wake up and cry silently because I was very upset. Every time Leia mentioned her name, my eyes would well up with tears. I didn't expect to be so affected. But I really was. I was sad that she wouldn't be there for Leia's baptism as Leia's proxy Godparent.

18 - 20 March
We had a 2 night staycation at Amara Sanctuary with Leia! This wasn't unfortunate and in fact, it was a good break for Gerald and I. We had real quality time with each other and our little girl. My mum, sister and her kids joined us on the first day and the children went swimming together. Leia had so much fun in the pool!

On the 2nd day, after our buffet breakfast at Shutters, we brought Leia to Siloso beach to play with sand! It was awesome fun. We parked ourselves at a cafe which had a sand area that was sheltered and taught her how to build sandcastles. She overcame her fear of the sand =D We had lunch at McDonald's and Leia had her first full kid's meal hehe. After our nap, we visited the Merlion area for a children's funfair before we headed back for a nap. Mike, ky and Luke joined us for dinner at DTF before our awesome day ended.

22 March
Maybe we had a bit too much fun at the staycation, I fell quite sick and started having very high fever, till about 39 degrees. I just saw a GP to get some pregnancy safe paracetamol and flu medication.

24 March
It was Leia's turn to fall really ill and she started to have SUPER high fever. One of the nights, her fever peaked to 40.6 degrees and I was freaking out. I was already giving her paracetamol and alternated it with ibrufen and was sponging her. I was so worried she would get into a fit and suffer brain damage -.- On Good Friday, we brought her to Mount Alvernia's 24 hour clinic because she was still so unwell. The doctor gave her some antibiotics and more affective medication to stuff up her bum bum.

26 March
This was the day of our baptism. Leia's fever had subsided and she seemed better. We were so happy that we could make it for our Baptism at the new St Peter's and Paul's church! Everything went well although Leia cried quite a bit before the ceremony and I was worried. But during the Baptism, Leia didn't cry at all when Father Ed put the holy water on her head!

29 March - 1 April
For reasons unknown, I had to be admitted into Mount Alvernia Hospital for pneumonia. I was suffering from immense pain when I breathed and just felt very weak. Apparently, I was suffering from mycoplasma pneumonia and my flu strain had both Influenza B and Mycoplasma. Due to possible pregnancy complications, they warded me into ICU for 3 days. On the first day, I had to go through a series of tests, then sponged with ice water to bring my fever down. My doctor told me that I had to bring my fever down or I might go into pre term labor.

I was so afraid that something bad might happen. The sponging was a horrible process but I kept telling myself to bear with it for my baby. I was put on IV antibiotics and given oxygen to breathe due to my shallow and painful breathing. I felt a lot better the 2nd day when the painkillers and anti biotics started to work. Dr kept me in ICU just in case before I was transferred to normal ward on Thursday and was discharged on Saturday. Towards the end, I was coughing a lot as it was apparently a symptom of recovering.

27 March - 29 March
The day after I was warded, Leia was admitted into KKH hospital because her fever came back and wouldn't go away. My poor baby and Hubby stayed in KKH for 2 nights. In the day, my MIL and FIL would accompany Leia when Gerald visited me. It was a very tough time for Gerald because he had to be strong for 2 of us. The 1st night, he couldn't rest because they were in 4 bedder ward and there were other babies crying throughout the night. But we're really thankful for the doctors and nurses there who helped Leia recover and she was able to be discharged.

3 April
Leia stayed at my in laws over the weekend whilst I recuperated at home with Gerald. I was soooo happy to see my baby again when she came home. My in laws continued to come to help me during the weekdays since we were helper- less. To make things easier, G ordered tingkat catering so that we didn't need to cook dinner and wash dishes at night.

In the meantime, we started actively looking for a transfer maid to help with the housework and cooking. We knew it was gonna be difficult for me to handle everything, especially when our baby comes. I know I would be susceptible to falling sick or get a relapse if I didn't rest enough in my third trimester.

8 - 9 April
My mum's agency called and told her of a potential transfer maid for hire. Over the 2 days, we had skype and face to face interview before we immediately confirmed her and she came on the 14th!

Once she arrived, things got a little easier and I managed to rest. Leia also started school again so that we have more time in the mornings.
