My awesome mum!
After our weekend experience, my mum visited jb's KSL mall to check out their wedding Guo Da Li shops. And amazingly, she came back with some really awesome buys! She ended buying almost the entire set of items at just S$168! And I love the designs of all the items! They're quite modern and not ugly looking haha. Will definitely use them in the future! =D You're so resourceful and brilliant mum! *loves* will take photos closer to the actual Guo Da Li date!

Weekend fun!
My family and I did a little Guo da li (window) shopping on Saturday. We checked out the modern shop at Jubilee and more traditional one near Hong lim. Verdict: The 1st shop was so much clearer and more professional? And it had much better designs for its assortment of items. The 2nd shop was eeky! The shop owner was sooo pushy and it carried such horrible designs! *cringe* so glad I convinced my mum to leave the shop! Here's a pic of the place:
I guess our trip to Hong Lim wasn't exactly a wasted one since we took the chance to visit our all time favourite soya sauce noodle store. Yum yum yum. My family loves to eat!
Saturday dinner was amazing with the company of Adeline, Maliga and Vivi. I met them to pass them my invites and we had sinfully good Korean BBQ at tanjong pagar. We had so much fun catching up, like the good 'ol times when we were still colleagues. There was sweet rice wine and lots of photo whoring.
I had to leave early cos it was Auntie Shirley's birthday. I bought a lovely strawberry mango cake at an artisan cafe just opposite. We couldn't resist to get a slice to try!

Whee! It's a holiday!
It's haji today so we didn't have to go to work. I love public holidays that fall on Fridays. Super long weekend woohoo! =D
G and I slept in this morning. I woke up feeling very contented with him beside me. I was inspired and took a snapshot of his back just to remember that moment:
Our day started off well with an awesome, homemade nasi lemak brunch. It was soooo delicious. I love how a good meal can make such a difference to a person's mood and day.
And desserts are always there to make you feel happier! I couldn't resist a visit to Canele although I just recently declared my abstinence from sweet things.
We caught 'Perks of being a wallflower' after Michael and Karyan raved about the movie last night. It makes you think about the possible inner battles that teenagers face today... and the importance of friendship. Really meaningful this one.

Just you and me.
G and I had an impromptu date today and it was fun! =) I decided to ask him out since my martinis night with Ame and joy got cancelled.
Honestly, we didn't do much. Just had a fattening dinner at KFC and ate loads of chicken! We actually ordered twice cause our first order wasn't enough to feed us -_- Omg, we are such greedy folks. Anyways, we had quite a bit of fun at dinner cause G kept teasing me about my frizzy hair and 'mustache'. And as usual, we were entertaining ourselves with silly talk. I love such moments!
To walk off our dinner, we went to explore City Plaza at paya lebar. Felt like we were visiting some mall in JB! Really run down and dodgy hehe. But it was quite interesting looking at all the retail and wholesale shops selling super aunty clothing! Heh. I guess it just feels nice to walk around randomly with G, without a purpose in mind. It's been a while since we've done this.
Anyway, I just listed to a couple of awesome songs by Colbie Caillat and I love her! Her few songs are so nice to play at weddings =D

It's wedding video day!
G conceptualized our video's storyboard today! We got our basic props (whiteboard, markers, stickers) and started filming. We spent the whole afternoon preparing the questions for our interview. G was super creative! I called him the art director for the day. He came up with ideas for each scene and some really cute illustrations, drawing inspiration from the webbie.
The process was hilarious, with me making some boos boos. G kept saying I have zero creativity and couldn't contribute much =( it's true though!
We managed to edit the parts we took and added music to our partial work! Can't work to do the actual interviews for the rest of the video!

We tie and we draw.
G and I just spent the past few hours preparing our invites. We were super efficient, especially him! Managed to tie our invites, pack 'em, address the envelopes and G even customized some of the envelopes with his cute signature drawings!
Initially, I had a difficult time trying to tie our lunch and solemnization invites together with brown string. It's not as easy as it looks on Wei wei's photo! But after a few tries and failed attempts, I managed to figure it out. Love the end product =D I took quite a few shots to capture the process!

Yay! Our invites are here!
We collected our wedding and solemnization invites from Wei Wei this evening. Whee! They look so amazing! Can't wait to send them out to our guests =) All the hard work with our designer and Wei Wei has paid off!

I love Sherie time.
I love lying beside Sherie on the bed. It always feels so peaceful. I'd be tickling her paw, cheeks and whiskers. And she'd be happy to be there with me, looking very contented with life. I love how she always gazes at me with those gentle, doe like eyes. Today, she seemed like she was smiling too! Maybe I'm really everything to her.

Wishlist: Something Coral!
I've been loving neutral and earthy colours for my clothing. They exude simplicity, class and sophistication! But the problem with such tones is that they may cause an outfit to look too bland and plain.
And the way to overcome this is to add a pop of colour to the overall look. This can be done through accessories, shoes or bags. I have this growing urge to buy myself a coral or red bag to complement my neutral clothes! And I can't stop thinking about this bag that I saw at a quaint, lifestyle store at Haji Lane.
Ahhhh so pretty.

Monday thoughts.
I don't know if it's due to work or wedding stress, my mind has grown more impatient and jumpy recently. I'm blogging less. Taking less everyday photographs. Generally, I'm not appreciating life as much as I'd like to.
Time to slow down and reflect!

Pop of colour!
I love candy colours. I've recently been addicted to pinks and corals.

Progress!
I didn't think much happened this week. But I went through my photos and realized otherwise! Here are the key highlights of the week:
Wedding favours:
My mum and I found a source for our mini potted succulent favours! The place is none other than the nursery near the amk library. =D I almost jumped for joy when I saw the planties... And was so excited to find out that I could buy each for $2.20 if I bought more than 100 of 'em. That's the best deal so far! Wheeee. Immediately I made an order and request to check for sufficient supplies.
Anyways, the nursery was awesome. We found our favourite airplants, otherwise also known as tillandasia plants. Mum bought two to add to our home collection! Sooo pretty.
And, Wei Wei ordered our honey pots as well! So we're pretty much done for our wedding favours. Check! Here's how they'll probably look like!
I love how both the potted cacti and honey pots go together! *hearts*
Invites:
Our invites have been sent for printing and they look so adorable! Can't wait to see the actual thing. I look back on the entire process from engaging the designer, shortlisting the designs, commenting, choosing of wordings/colours... And paper. All of it was worth it. And it was definitely fun!
Selection of JP:
Yes! This has been sorted too! Another check!

DIY: Flower Crowns
I woke up super early this morning. And I figured it's about time to start working on the DIY flower crowns for my bridesmaids! I'm glad that I managed to find the materials from Arab street the other time.
Here's what I used!
Surprisingly, the DIY project was relatively simple and easy. And my flower crown was a success! I spent less than an hour trying to complete it. Now I just need to buy more of the same type of flowers for the other flower crowns. I hope they're not out of stock! *crosses fingers*

Awesome, fruitful day!
I had a great day!
After our routine body attack session, Ame and I had McDonald's for lunch. And we had the best food ever - the samurai burger! It was soooo sinfully good. Every mouthful was heaven. *wistful sigh* Thereafter, we managed to get our bridesmaid dresses from Occasions. Yay! Finally. Hope this makes Sophie happier =)
The best part of my day was spending time with dad, mum and boy. We had our traditional hainanese dinner at Yet Con at purvis street. It's the place we used to go so often when we were kids. Whilst the food and service standards have dropped compared to the past, dinner was still enjoyable purely because of the memories we have of the place. It's nice to know that we can still sit there and have dinner together like we used to. It's a place of much sentimental value.
And we fulfilled our dessert cravings at Ji De Chi at liang seah. We shared of course!
The night was still young so I suggested having a stroll at Gardens by the Bay since daddy and mummy haven't been there before. We had a great time admiring the super trees and the lights together. Our timing was perfect as we managed to catch their show of lights just before we left. Awesome =) felt happy just spending time with my family.

Big relief!
It's been a stressful two days, with me transforming into a bridezilla. G and I were getting rejected by the popular and good JPs recommended by Wei Wei. Made me feel super frustrated because I originally wanted to book them alot earlier. Oh well.
Anyways, G was such a sweetheart. He knew how frantic I was so he started searching online for more JP options and contacted them to check on their availability. And after several attempts, he got a reply! Yay! Mr Erv Wong gave us a prompt yes. Now we're crossing our fingers that he won't cancel on us. The reviews of him on sg brides were pretty good so it's quite comforting.
So big load off my chest! I hope I can sleep better tonight hehe.

As the date draws nearer.
Here are a couple of updates for our wedding preparations!
Food Tasting
We had our food tasting at Imperial Treasures CP yesterday! It was a dinner with our parent + siblings and I must say it went pretty well!
Overall, food was good with more hits than misses. We only had a few comments, mostly about reducing the saltiness/spiciness/sauce for certain dishes. I wouldn't say that the food was insanely fantastic but good enough for us I suppose! My most memorable dish was the crispy roast duck. Everyone thought it was sooooo yummmmmy. Thinking about it makes me salivate hehe. The prawns and fish were pretty popular at the table too. The food portions were all pretty huge!
The great thing about our food tasting was that it didn't feel awkward for both families. I'm glad G and I previously arranged for our parents to meet a couple of months back. The previous meeting made them feel more familiar and comfortable talking to one another this time round. And it really helps having G and his dad around! They're always ready to inject a bit of humour to the table conversation. We had our share of laughter amidst the food tasting and critiquing. =D
Here are some photos of our dish choices!
Wedding video inspiration
I've been mulling over what kind of video to show at our wedding. We're not for the typical growing up montage that couples usually show before the grand march in. I'm thinking of a video that shows our love story and how we are as a couple. Something that is uniquely us. At the same time, it'll be great if we could include the participation of our friends in the video.
So it was timely when I recalled this video that I watched a while back. It was a wedding video prepared for Sonia from Jayesslee and her hubby. Here's the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vsa2k47pw9Y
Anyways, the video is based on a Q&A concept, where Sonia's and Andy's friends ask the couple a series of questions that reveal their journey together as a couple. It was such a funny and sweet video. It totally inspired me to do something similar for ours! I just hope we can find the time and help to prepare it without feeling too stressed about the whole thing.
Wedding favours!
I am soooo excited about our wedding favours! We're gonna have lil honey jars and potted plants as gifts for our guests. How cuteeee is that?! And so very fitting for our theme. I adored the idea when Wei Wei shared it with us. I guess it's only natural since I previously mentioned that honey is such an awesome gift since it's like sharing a lil sweetness with your guests. And I earlier showed her pictures of these pretty potted plants wrapped with brown paper. I just loved them! Tada! Here's the picture I shared:
Wei Wei managed to source for similar potted plants for us, yay! Hope we manage to get a good deal for them =D

I just read about how potted plants, representing new life, are a wonderful way to signify the new life that two partners will be starting together after their wedding. So meaningful. Makes me love our green wedding favours more! <3
