Baby Leia's milestones: Almost 6.5 months old!

I can't get enough of my little one. Sure, she drives me insane when I rock her to sleep and she refuses to sleep. But all in all, she's such a sweetheart =D

In the past 2 weeks, she somehow just picked up a few more things! It's amazing how fast babies develop and hit new milestones:

1. She's been alot more comfy on her tummy now. And during tummy time, she loves to push up on her arms. She keeps practising and I suspect she's preparing for her next milestone of crawling.

2. I was reading about how 6 month babies love to raspberry on baby center. And a few days later, Leia really started doing it! It's so funny! She just keeps blowing saliva out and it's the most cheeky thing ever!

3. Leia loves her rice cereal. My helper Jo  has been increasing her portions to about 3 teaspoons in the mornings now. And just yesterday, we prepared a batch of sweet potato purée for her to try! She was a lil apprehensive when she first tasted it so we're gonna see how it goes!

(Couple time) Civic trail date!

Earlier this week, G and I went on a civic trail in Tanjong Pagar. Organized by the Thought collective, the trail was meant to let participants see how people's aspirations are tied to spaces and how spaces are important to community building.

Our facilitator brought us to several interesting spots in Tanjong Pagar including the second oldest skyscraper in the area, Tanjong Pagar complex, Tanjong Pagar cc, Pinnacle @ Duxton, Duxton area and Telok Ayer cc.

At every place, our facilitator would tell us something interesting about the space and why it's there. And she would prompt us to think about how aspirations and spaces are intertwined. Basically she should raise very thought provoking questions that we don't usually think about.

G and I really enjoyed the trail. And not only because it served as a date opportunity for us. We visited places that we've never been before... And saw familiar places in a different light. It was really interesting and engaging.

We actually went to the roof top of the second oldest skyscraper and discovered that it had a traditional open concept rooftop garden. The view was amazing.

We saw the disparity between Tanjong Pagar complex and the Pinnacles. Understood LKY's vision for Pinnacles to provide aspirations for young folks like us.

Discovered that 85% of the venues in Duxton are actually foreign owned! It made us think about  why such prime land in the hands of foreigners and how out of place average Singaporeans would feel there.

We learnt so many things!

I'm actually motivated to go for more of such trails now!

(Baby Leia) No rocking needed!

Leia kept flipping over at 4-5am last night. She just couldn't get back to sleep!  I was really tired so for the first time, I just picked her up and lay her on our bed, between G and I. I just gently pat her in the midst of my grogginess.

And then, she just fell asleep! It was her first time co-sleeping with us on the bed! I didn't need to carry and rock her either. It was woooonderful hehe. I liked her sleeping beside me. Felt really warm and fuzzy. I did feel kinda cautious though... I was so afraid of squashing her!

Really hope I can do this again when she wakes up in the middle of the night!

Baby Leia's milestone: Happy 6 months!

Leia turns 6 months today! She's already half a year old! Oh myyy.

Our cutie pie has been super adorable lately. She just loves to play! She goes into super happy mode when I:

1. Sing twinkle twinkle little star and gesture with my hands.

2. Hold a big or small towel in front of her and move it around, closer towards her. Cushions work as well!

3. Lay her on her playmat and let her watch me dance or run towards her. She gets so excited she squeals, flails her arms and kicks! Of course she does her Elmo gummy smiles too!

Just last week, Leia learnt how to flip successfully from back to tummy! And she keeps doing it non-stop, especially in her cot. G and I had sleepless nights cause of her new found skill. She kept waking up from flipping over and she would cry because she couldn't flip back.  It was exhausting for us but yet funny at the same time. Lol.

She has been better these past few nights, waking up less frequently. Last night she actually slept from 7.30pm all the way to 6.30pm! Anyways, I try not to rock her back to sleep in the middle of the night. Back's been aching too much! Thank goodness she takes the pacifier for now.

Leia had her check up yesterday and she's apparently slightly underweight! It's no surprise since she doesn't really want to drink her milk lately... Today we decided to feed her with rice cereal again so that she gains weight!

Oh and we put her in the bumbo today! She looked soooooooooo cute, like a big baby! Our lil girl is growing up too fast!

Here are some pictures!

Baby Leia's milestone: 24 coming 25 weeks!

Lil leia turned 24 weeks last week! I've been less active (cause of work) posting about her updates so I want to keep up!

Leia has been doing so many new things lately!

1. I mentioned previously that Leia does crunches. We figured that she actually does that when she wants to be carried! Yes, she's not like other babies or hold out their arms to be carried. She's truly unique haha.

2. She has learnt to flip over to her tummy during her sleep! She has done that about 3 times now and we always get a shock when it happens. Twice, I found her asleep on her belly. She usually wakes up crying after that because she doesn't know how to turn back hehe. We discovered that she only likes to turn on her bed or ours. She doesn't do it on her Playmat! -.-

3. She loves it when I run a small cloth or tissue over her face! She always gets into  excited mode when I do that. Think she likes the soft feeling of the cloth/tissue. Anyways, she becomes really happy when I move it above her.

4. Well, other than cloths or tissues, she adores looking at my hand too. I always lay beside her and stretch out my open palm. I move my hand around as though its a bird or plane and that really tickles her. She always tries to reach out and hold my hand. Oh and when I sing tinkle twinkle lil star and gesture with my hand, she smiles really really widely. Her classic Elmo smile basically.

5. When mike and karyan came over on Sunday, we decided to try our ergo with her. Luke was enjoying the ergo so we thought we should get Leia used to it too since she's already close to 6 months. We were surprised that she was okay with it! Yay! She seemed so calm and comfy sitting in the carrier.

Here are some photos of my lil G!

(Being Mummy) Back at work!

Today is my first day back at work after my maternity leave!

I can't believe 5.5 months flew by just like that. And my lil one is so big now! It seems like not too long ago that I was still preggie with Leia and rubbing my roly poly belly all the time. And it seems like just recently that Leia turned a month old!

I'm now working on a part time arrangement so I only work in the mornings. I come home at about 2.30pm in the afternoon. I'm really quite thankful that my boss has granted me this flexible arrangement... Not every company is able to do so. I really appreciate that I get to work and spend time with my little one. I get to keep my mind active and have my mummy-baby bonding time! Being with Leia is so so so important to me. I want to be there for her and watch her grow up lil by lil.

Anyways when I was back at work today,  I felt nice to return to a familiar environment. My cubicle still looked the same... And I felt happy to have my work space again. Whilst many colleagues have already left the company, I still saw familiar faces around. They were glad to see me again and I felt so welcome. =D Catching up with them was awesomeeee. Really hope they're not going to leave or I'm gonna have no more friends! Lol.

My only complaint for today is the tiring journey to and fro work. I forgot how exhausting it is to get to my workplace. Now that I stay in punggol, I have to change trains twice... And the walk from NEL to circle line at Serangoon is sooooo long. And yes, the walk from Aljunied to office is even further! I think I'm gonna try to take train and bus tomorrow!

Here's a pic of my cosy work space!
