(Couple time) Civic trail date!

Earlier this week, G and I went on a civic trail in Tanjong Pagar. Organized by the Thought collective, the trail was meant to let participants see how people's aspirations are tied to spaces and how spaces are important to community building.

Our facilitator brought us to several interesting spots in Tanjong Pagar including the second oldest skyscraper in the area, Tanjong Pagar complex, Tanjong Pagar cc, Pinnacle @ Duxton, Duxton area and Telok Ayer cc.

At every place, our facilitator would tell us something interesting about the space and why it's there. And she would prompt us to think about how aspirations and spaces are intertwined. Basically she should raise very thought provoking questions that we don't usually think about.

G and I really enjoyed the trail. And not only because it served as a date opportunity for us. We visited places that we've never been before... And saw familiar places in a different light. It was really interesting and engaging.

We actually went to the roof top of the second oldest skyscraper and discovered that it had a traditional open concept rooftop garden. The view was amazing.

We saw the disparity between Tanjong Pagar complex and the Pinnacles. Understood LKY's vision for Pinnacles to provide aspirations for young folks like us.

Discovered that 85% of the venues in Duxton are actually foreign owned! It made us think about  why such prime land in the hands of foreigners and how out of place average Singaporeans would feel there.

We learnt so many things!

I'm actually motivated to go for more of such trails now!
