Preggie journey: Eating well.

I just did some homework, reading my (What to expect when you're expecting) book.

And apparently, eating well when you're expecting is one of the first and best gifts you can give to your bundle of joy. I totally believe in this. Eating well should definitely help a baby develop healthily and allow a preggie mum to have a safe and comfortable pregnancy!

So I'm gonna try to stick to a good pregnancy diet. It's not going to be easy but I'm committed to do so. *fighting!*

Basically, the foundation of a good preggie diet is: A good balanced mix of protein + calcium, whole grains, a rainbow of fruits + veggies and healthy fats.

I'm quite surprised at the servings required for each category, especially for calcium (4) and whole grains (6)! It seems like I need to take alot of milk, cheese, yogurt etc. to fulfill my calcium needs and I currently don't take such foods so regularly. Need to work on this! Same for whole grains. Gotta start eating more oatmeal, wholemeal bread or brown ric, other than cereal.
